Sounding Too Good To Be True

Bible Book: Selected Passages
Subject: Truth; Judgment; Danger of Disbelief
Introduction

In this day and time we as Christians find ourselves in a contest with many points of view that are not correct concerning spiritual things. The New Age Movement is one of the most dangerous of all because it sounds too good to be true. In essence, it propagates information that is rooted in the occult and many other pagan practices. It is a kind of amalgamation of Christianity, Far Eastern religions, the occult, pantheism and others. When one is involved with the New Age Movement, he or she is in severe and critical danger of falling into fatal error.

Today, I am going to mention a few of the things which Satan and the New Age Movement would like for you to believe. To people in general these are attractive statements because they simply "Sound Too Good to be True." But the Bible speaks plainly and frankly about these statements. Those who are Christian have no problem with what the Bible says, but others rather appeal to their own human explanations than to appeal to God's Word and, therefore, embrace many of these statements as fact. What are some of the things that Sound Too Good, but to the world appear to be true?

I. Everyone Is Good At Heart

Jeremiah 17:9. The bible directly refutes the foolishness of this idea. The heart of man is deceitful and wicked. Sin entered the world through the first Adam and corrupted mankind. "All have sinned and gone astray." Not only can we say that not all people are good at heart, we can say that no one is "good at heart" without the forgiveness and cleansing of Jesus Christ!

II. We're All Going To The Same Place

There are those today we say that we are all going to the same place but we are just traveling different roads to get there. Look at John 5:29 and Matthew 25:33-34, 41.

III. We're All Working For The Same Thing

Actually, by works no man can make himself right with God! Look at Ephesians 2:8-9.

IV. It Doesn't Matter What You Believe

Another strange and false idea is that it does not matter what you believe as long as you are sincere." Read Proverbs 14:12 and John 14:6. Sincerity has nothing to do with it. One can be sincerely wrong.

V. A Loving God Will Not Allow Anyone To Be Lost

Exodus 34:6-7, Isaiah 66:24 and Revelation 20:10-15 speaks clearly to this issue. No where does God ever say that ALL will be saved.

VI. The Cross Of Christ Is Not Really Relevant

No thought could be more errant that the one that posits that the Cross of Jesus Christ is not really relevant. Look at 1 Corinthians 1:18; 3:11; Ephesians 2:19-22, Romans 4:24-25 and Acts 4:12...(No other name under heaven whereby we must be saved). If that's not relevant, then what is?

I believe these people finally find out that the Cross of Christ is not only relevant but it is the most relevant thing in this entire world.

Think about the dieing words of some of these people: Tallerand said, "I am suffering the pangs of the damned."

Charteres said, "I would gladly give 30,000 Pounds to have it proved there is no hell."Hobbs, the athiest said, "I am taking a fearful leap into the dark."

Voltaire lay dying, and he said, "I am abandoned by God and man! I shall go to Hell! O Christ, O Jesus Christ!"

Oliver Cromwell lamented, "The devil is ready to seduce us, and I have been seduced."

Charles IX of France moaned, "What blood, what murders, what evil councils have I Followed. I am lost! I see it well!

Sir Thomas Scott saw the relevancy of the Cross of Christ when his dying words were, "Until this moment I thought there was neither God nor hell; now I know and feel that there are both and I am doomed to perdition by the just judgment of the Almighty!"

Tom Paine appealed to Jesus too late when he cried, "I would give worlds, if I had them, if the Age of Reason had never been published. O Lord, help me Christ, help me! Stay with me! It is hell to be left alone!"

We hear the cry of Sir Francis Newport, "Oh, the insufferable pangs of Hell! O Eternity! Forever and forever!"

All of these people had sought their own way. They all thought what the New Age people and the secularists think. But God thinks something else. "He that hath the Son hath life and he who has not the Son of God hath not life"...1 John 5:12.
