What Is Better Than One Godly Mother

Title: What Is Better Than One Godly Mother

Bible Book: Exodus 2 : 1-10

Author: Vince Hefner

Subject: Parenting; Mother

Objective:

Introduction

George Washington said, "I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received fro my mother.”

Abraham Lincoln said, "All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother.”

What is better than one godly mother? Two godly mothers! Of course, Moses had the blessing of having a godly mother, but he also had another who helped him grow and learn. The question is, "What does it take to become a godly Mother?"

I. You Must Think and Act in a Godly Fashion

She thought seriously about marriage. What do women look for in a husband? Honesty and confidence. Respect and is a good listener. And, good hygiene is a bonus! Good attitude toward life in general.

Moses’ mother married someone within her own tribe. Marry someone “likeminded” in the basics of life.

Marry a believer. Marry someone who wants to grow in the faith.

Marry someone whom you would want to be the father of your children.

II. You Must Provide and Train in a Godly Fashion

She protected her child when the law said to kill her child. She worked for her child when others gave up on their children. She taught Moses’ sister and brother to help in raising Moses, and this responsibility never ceased! She taught Moses about God!

Just think, she had no Bible to teach from. But, she had the stories that had been kept for thousands of years - Stories about creation - Stories about sin and redemption - Stories about God’s plan for all people - Stories that activated his faith in his God.

III. You Must Believe In Providence and Practice Praise in a Godly Fashion

Moses’ mother had done all she could do, and now she could watch, wait, and pray. Help came from the most unlikely source, the Pharaoh’s daughter.

She came to the right location…the spot where Moses was located.
She came with the right perception…she saw the ark among the reeds.
She came with the right motivation…she sent someone to get the ark.
She came with the right passion, to save the child and not drown it.
She came with the right emotion, allowed the true mother to be with child.
She came with right vocation, she adopted Moses as her son.

Conclusion

God wants to use godly mothers to show His love to children. One godly decision can effect countless people! Are you trusting God with your best for Him and for His glory?
