Title: The Three-Fold Relevance of the Resurrection (Outline)
Bible Book: 1 Peter 1 : 3-5
Author: Bill Bennett
Subject: Resurrection; Easter
Objective:
Introduction
The resurrection of Jesus Christ speaks to our total need as nothing else - to our Past, our Present and our Future.
I. The Resurrection Is Relevant To Our Past
The resurrection is relevant to our past for it assures us of God's forgiveness of all our sins (Romans 4:25).
II. The Resurrection Is Relevant To Our Present
The Resurrection is relevant to our present for it assures us of God's power to live a godly and victorious life in "this present evil age" (Galatians 1:4).
III. The Resurrection Is Relevant To Our Future
The resurrection is relevant to our future for it assures us of victory over death, hell and the grave (Revelation 1:17-18).
Since the resurrection resonates to our total need in such a wonderful way, we naturally would ask, "How can we personally enter into the victory of the resurrection?" The answer is: simply by receiving, by repentance and faith, the gift of the new birth. The Apostle Peter announces this glorious truth to the fullest when he writes "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has given us a new birth into a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that fadeth not away reserved in heaven for us who are kept by the power of God through faith under salvation ready to be revealed in the last day." It is no wonder then that Jesus said, "Ye (you all) must be born again." Have you?
Conclusion
Hallelujah what a Savior! So on this Easter let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before our ONCE CRUCIFIED, BUT NOW RISEN, REIGNING, REDEEMING, AND SOON RETURNING LORD JESUS CHRIST. HALLUJAH!
