Easy Overnight Oats

Yesterday afternoon I took time to make 6 jars of overnight oats.  Overnight oats are nutritious, affordable, and convenient for any time of the day. I start with 1/2 cup of organic rolled oats in each jar. I use 14 oz. wide mouth jars, which I order on Amazon. They come with matching lids and attachable spoons, making transporting them to school or work easy. To the oats I add 1 tsp of organic black chia seeds.  Chia seeds are full of antioxidants that can lower your risk of heart disease.

To the oats and chia seeds, I add 1/2 cup milk. You can use any kind of milk, including almond or cashew milk. I also add mashed bananas, 1/4 tsp organic vanilla extract, a small bit of organic maple syrup, and a couple sliced frozen strawberries and blueberries. I stir all of these ingredients together and place in the fridge overnight. In the morning, I top the mixture with a scattering of chopped pecans and enjoy a jar full of delicious goodness for a filling breakfast. These overnight oats last 5 days in the fridge, so they are perfect for making ahead.

Overnight oats are ideal for snacks and quick lunches. You can change things up by using various ingredients like peanut butter, cocoa, yogurt, chopped apples, dried cranberries, or raisins. I hope you and your family will enjoy them! Sherry
