PastorLife was founded in 2000 by Dr. J Mike Minnix. His goal was to create a website to help pastors and Bible teachers with study and idea materials which would benefit them in communicating God’s Word. In 2024, as Dr. Minnix approached his 80th birthday, he felt led to pass on this ministry to his daughter, Sherry, and her husband, Dr. Vincent D. Hefner.
Dr. Hefner was called to preach in 1979 and ordained to the pastoral ministry in 1983, when he accepted the call to his first church while he was a junior in college. While attending Gardner-Webb University, he met Sherry, who was an English major there. They were married in 1984 and have 4 children and 11 grandchildren.
Dr. Hefner received his M. Div. and D. Min. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He has been in full-time pastoral ministry since 1983 and has served as Senior Pastor in his current church for over 22 years. Dr. Hefner has published 3 books, written faith columns for newspapers for 35 years, and has served in his community and in the local school system. He has served as a Chaplain in the US Army Reserves, the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cherryville Fire Department.
Sherry’s heart has always been in the home. In 2012, she created an online ministry called, “The Homespun Wife.” Her Facebook page, which has over 127,000 followers, offers daily Christian encouragement through her original writings of prose, poetry, and devotional materials.
Having spent many years in pastoral ministry, Vince and Sherry understand the unique joys and challenges of serving in the local church. Through PastorLife, they hope to create a community where pastors and their wives can access not only study and idea materials, but also receive personal and ministry support through additional social media platforms, such as YouTube. It is their desire to honor Jesus by supporting his servants who are in pastoral ministry.
